School Prayer

In 2016 our St Kevin's School Prayer was written by a working group made up of staff and senior students. The process was collaborative with students and staff adding valuable input. The students showed great maturity and insight with their contributions, combined with the wisdom and deep faith of staff. The prayer needed to be simple enough for all students to be able to understand and learn, yet include the key elements of prayer, reflecting our school and the inspiration of St Kevin.

The final draft was approved by our staff, our parish priest, Fr Tim Harris, and Brisbane Catholic Education's Religion Education Officer, Elizabeth Fort.

In 2017, we decided to create St Kevin's School Prayer cards using the prayer as well as the beautiful collage of St Kevin which was created by staff in January 2012 (seen below). Students were asked to submit drawings to use to decorate the prayer cards.

The final selections were:
* A sketch of St Kevin by Teiya (Year 5)
* A sketch of a blackbird by Milina (Year 5)
* A compilation of photographic images taken by Year 6 students as part of a St Kevin's Feast Day activity

The prayer cards were designed by Brisbane Catholic Education Printery. At our Feast Day celebrations in June, each student and their family received prayers cards to keep.

You inspire us to show strength with kindness, just as Jesus and St Kevin did.

May we act with justice and gentleness throughout our day, humble in all we do and say.

Thank you for the gifts you have given us.

Guide us in using these gifts to help our school and our world.

Bless us as we go about caring for others and for all of creation.

Fill our day with hope as we live and learn together at St Kevin's.

We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord,

Amen.
