Resource Centre

1.JPGThe Resource Centre is open each day. Students visit to borrow books with their class each week and may also borrow at 8.30am and at morning tea every day. Students are welcome to visit every break to read, draw, play games and complete class work.

The Resource Centre is a welcoming and stimulating environment with a large selection of favourite and newly published fiction and non-fiction resources to engage students, develop a love of reading and support their information gathering skills. In addition to our general collection we have a comprehensive selection of Lexile books for our upper students to read at their reading levels. Student reading is supported in the early years with class take-home readers to supplement class guided readers and library books.

Book Week is celebrated in Term Three. The Children's Book Council short listed books are promoted to develop an insight into the traits of good quality books. We have a dress-up day and Book Fair as part of the celebrations. Students also enter the Premier's Reading Challenge to reinforce the importance we place on reading at St. Kevin's.
